DESCRIPTION:The VTCT Certificate in Assessing is a practical-based qualification intended for assessors who assess people working towards qualifications. An assessor is a person with the required knowledge and skills that determines whether a candidate is capable of doing the job at hand in their own particular field of expertise by collecting evidence.\nYour job would be to help make sure that learners meet all occupational standards needed to achieve their qualification. Your day – to – day tasks will depend on the type of assessments you carry out but could include:\n\n \tPlanning and delivering vocational training\n \tObserving and assessing candidates in a training centre or workplace\n \tSupporting learners with portfolios of evidence\n \tProviding feedback and support if the standards are not met\n \tKeeping records of progress\n \tLiaising with quality assurance staff\n \tManaging information relating to assessment\n\nEntry Requirements:\nTo become an Assessor you will need the following qualifications:\n\n \tTeaching qualification\n \tLevel 3 or higher qualification in the area of work you wish to assess\n \tCommercial experience in your area of expertise\n\nSkills and Qualities:\n\n \tExcellent communication skills\n \tAn interest in helping people develop\n \tThe ability to motivate and encourage people\n \tPatience and tact\n \tGood organisational skills\n \tA methodical approach to work\n \tGood record keeping and report writing skills\n\nCourse Content:\nUnit 1\n\n \tUnderstand the principles and requirements of assessment\n \tTypes of assessment methods\n \tHow to plan assessment\n\nUnit 2\n\n \tInvolve learners and others in assessment\n \tHow to make assessment decisions\n \tImportance of quality assurance\n\nUnit 3\n\n \tImportance of feedback\n \tGood practice requirements in relation to assessment\n\nUnit 4\n\n \tImportance of occupational competence\n \tImportance of Continual Professional Development\n\nUnit 5\n\n \tReflection\n \tDeadlines\n\nProgression\nOnce you are qualified as an assessor you can become an Internal Verifier. You will need the following:\n\n \tLevel 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement\n \tExperience of assessing in the occupational area you will be verifying\n\nDuration: Completed in a 3 - 6 month period\nTheory will be delivered through online tutorial. Practical training will take place in your own training centre or via Skype.\nCourse Fees: €450\nReduced cost €350 for those who hold the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training\n\nFees must be paid in full on enrollment. Access to online tutorials will be sent on payment.
