This course is suitable for qualified Beauty Therapists wishing to specialise in Advanced Skincare Treatments. Learn how to diagnose, design prescriptive skin treatments including electrical modalities (LED, Skin Scrapers, Galvanism, High Frequency, Skin Scanners) Peels and Microneedling. A must for those wishing to upskill their knowledge and techniques in Aesthetic treatments.
Level 2 Beauty Therapy or equivalent
Level 3 Facial or Body Electrical Treatments
Working with cosmetic products with active ingredients that affect the structure and function of the skin eg. AHAs, BHAs, peptides, pigment brighteners, anti oxidants etc. They represent the intersection of cosmetics and drugs.
Learn mesotherapy techniques with a range of rollers and dermapen. Derma Roller induces the body into producing collagen therefore improving the diffusion of the active ingredients. The microneedles create micro channels allowing the active ingredients to penetrate from the surface into the dermal tissue. It promotes the production of new collagen. It also provides a more effective penetration of the active ingredients (200 times more) in the stratum corneum.
IPL treatment to reduce appearance of fine lines, pigmentation, telangiectasia, campbell de morgan spots, photo aged skin.
This unit will cover a broad range of peels from 10% to 45%. A chemical peel is a topical technique used to improve, soften and smooth the texture of the skin using a chemical solution that causes the skin to slough off and eventually peel off. They can be applied on face and body areas. The regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. Chemical exfoliation utilises Beta and Alpha Hydroxy Acids to dissolve the bonds that hold skin cells together allowing them to shed.

Electrical Modalities for Advanced Skincare Treatments
Introducing electrical modalities into your treatments can greatly enhance the results, offer more targeted, results orientated treatments. Galvanic, Sonic Peeler, High Frequency and LED Light Therapy.
Advanced Skin Assessment
Clinical skin analysis is the most important part of a skincare treatment. Understanding the clients skin health will enable you to recommend appropriate skincare products and devise treatment programs.
Effects of Sun Damage
Learn to identify lesions associated with sun damage, preventative measure s and the effects of UVA and UVB exposure on the skin.
There is no formal assessment, you will work on each other.
All facial treatments will be performed with Image Skincare products and McCosmetics. All learners must have treatments carried out on themselves. Please inform the Academy if you have any skincare issues or concerns.
You must wear a therapist’s uniform to each class. Hair must be tied up and nails kept short with no polish or nail enhancements.

This is an approved qualification for working as a beauty therapist specialising in all aesthetic treatments. It also provides a sound platform for further learning or training. This qualification provides progression opportunities to the following VTCT qualifications:
- Level 3 Certificate in Microdermabrasion
- Level 4 Certificate in Laser & IPL
- Level 4 Diploma in Permanent Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation
- Level 4 Award in Skin Peel
- Level 4 Award in Microneedling
