Course Overview
The VTCT/ITEC Level 3 Certificate Access to Aesthetics is designed for learners with no formal beauty therapy background who wish to progress into advanced aesthetic therapy qualifications at Level 4 and above.
This qualification provides a strong foundation in skin analysis, facial skincare, consultation, anatomy and physiology, electrical science, and health and safety. Learners will develop the essential knowledge and practical skills required to work safely, professionally, and confidently within the aesthetics industry.
The course is ideal for beginners who wish to start their journey into aesthetics and progress onto advanced treatments such as skin needling, chemical peels, laser, IPL, and advanced aesthetic therapies.
Entry Requirements
No previous beauty therapy or aesthetics experience is required.
This qualification is suitable for beginners who wish to gain access to advanced aesthetic therapy qualifications at Level 4 and above.

Skin Analysis and Facial Skincare
Learners will develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge in:
- Facial treatments for the face, neck, and décolleté
- Skin analysis and diagnostic methodologies
- Treatment indications, benefits, effects, and contraindications
- Cleansing and exfoliation techniques
- Skin warming procedures
- Comedone extraction
- Facial massage
- Mask application
- Moisturising treatments
Consultation and Client Care
Learners will study:
- Principles of effective consultation
- High standards of client care
- Professional communication skills
- Client expectations and treatment planning
- Record keeping and professional conduct
Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology
Learners will develop knowledge of the structure and function of the human body, including:
- Skin, hair, and nails
- Skeletal system
- Muscular system
- Nervous system
- Endocrine system
- Respiratory system
- Cardiovascular system
- Lymphatic system
- Digestive system
- Reproductive system
- Common pathologies and contraindications
Electrical Science
This unit covers the natural and physical science behind electrical treatments, supporting learners in understanding the safe and effective use of electrical equipment.
Maintain Health & Safety in the Salon
Learners will study:
- Principles of health and safety at work
- Key legislation, legal, and regulatory factors
- Risk assessment and hazard identification
- Safe and hygienic working practices
- Infection prevention and control
- Fire safety, first aid resources, and emergency procedures
Course Duration
This course is delivered through blended learning.
Practical elements are completed onsite at Advanced Aesthetics Academy, while theoretical elements are completed through online tutorials and guided learning.

All onsite practical training days must be attended in full to successfully complete the qualification.
