Assessment
Learners must complete all assessment requirements
1. Course work/portfolio evidence
Learners must evidence their knowledge and understanding of the taught content, this is most effectively done with the use of course work. Course work can take the form of assignments/work sheets/projects/tests for example, and will be internally set, internally marked and externally sampled.
2. Case studies/portfolio evidence
Learners must produce a treatment portfolio, which is required to be completed under the supervision of a lecturer who must monitor the quality of the treatments performed throughout the learner’s training, to ensure that they meet the given criteria. All case studies must be completed and marked prior to the learner completing the summative practical assessments. Learners must complete case study practice demonstrating 5 treatments (that can be combined) to cover the range.
3. Summative practical assessments
The practical assessments will be conducted by centre assessors through direct observation. The summative assessment must take place under controlled conditions, in a realistic working environment on a real client and in a commercially acceptable timeframe for the practical treatment being assessed. In preparation for the summative assessment, centres are advised to ensure learners have carried out a series of formatively assessed case studies, comprising complete practical treatments, in accordance with the practical assessment criteria for the qualification.
