Overview
This qualification, informed by employers and national occupational standards for beauty therapy, includes all the required elements to work effectively as a LASER Systems practitioner specializing in hair growth reduction and skin rejuvenation. Learners must achieve all mandatory units, which include:
- Perform hair growth reduction using LASER Systems
- Perform skin rejuvenation using LASER systems
- Core of knowledge for LASER and Light Devices
Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety pertaining to level 4 aesthetic therapies. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills to communicate, consult with, and analyze clients for treatment, whilst honing their customer service skills.
Entry Requirements
- Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy or an Access to Aesthetics qualification or equivalent.
- All qualifications must include A&P at level 3.
Course Content
Unit 1 UBT451 Perform Hair Growth Reduction Using LASER Systems
- Hair removal will include treatment of all face and body areas on a range of hair types and skin colours. A range of LASER systems will be used during training, such as Diode, nD:Yag, and Alexandrite LASERS, making us unique compared to other training establishments.
Unit 2 UBT453 Perform Skin Rejuvenation using LASER Systems
- Skin rejuvenation will include the following treatments on the face and body:
- Reduction of fine lines
- Reduction of superficial telangiectasia/vascular lesions
- Improvement of superficial blemishes
- Improvement of pigmentation variations
- Improvement of skin texture
Unit 3 UBT449 Core of Knowledge
This unit is delivered through an e-learning platform and must be completed before attending practical sessions.
Upon completion, learners will:
- Comprehend laser safety legislation, measures, and management
- Comprehend risk assessments, hazards, and safety
- Comprehend laser and light technologies (radiation and tissue interaction)
Assessment
- Course Work
- Learners must evidence their knowledge and understanding of the taught content through assignments, worksheets, and tests.
- Case Studies
- Learners must produce a treatment portfolio of case studies, completed under the supervision of a lecturer, to ensure quality. All case studies must be completed and marked prior to the summative practical assessments.
- Summative Practical Assessments
- Conducted by centre assessors through direct observation, these assessments take place under controlled conditions on real clients in a commercially acceptable timeframe.
- Online Theory Exam
- Core of Knowledge is assessed through an online theory exam.
Course Duration
Core of Knowledge must be completed in your own time before attending onsite dates.
