This qualification is informed by employers and national occupational standards for beauty therapy and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a LASER Systems practitioner specialising in hair growth reduction and skin rejuvenation. Learners must achieve all mandatory units, which include:
- Perform hair growth reduction using LASER Systems
- Perform skin rejuvenation using LASER systems
- Core of knowledge for LASER and Light Devices
Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety pertaining to level 4 aesthetic therapies. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to communicate, consult with and analyse clients for treatment, whilst honing their customer service skills.
Entry Requirements
Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy or an Access to Aesthetics qualification or equivalent. All qualifications must include A&P at level 3
Course Content
Unit 1 UBT451 Perform Hair Growth Reduction Using LASER Systems
Hair removal will include treatment of all face and body areas on a range of hair types and skin colours. A range of LASER systems will be used during training such as Diode, nD:Yag and Alexandrite LASERS which makes us unique to other training establishments.
Unit 2 UBT453 Perform Skin Rejuvenation using LASER Systems
Skin rejuvenation will include the following treatments on the face and body:
- Reduction of fine lines
- Reduction of superficial telangiectasia/vascular lesions
- Improvement of superficial blemishes
- Improvement of pigmentation variations
- Improvement of skin texture
Unit 3 UBT449 Core of Knowledge
This unit is delivered thorough an e-learning platform. You must complete this unit before attending practical sessions as per dates below.
On completion of this unit, learners will:
- Comprehend laser safety legislation, measures, and management
- Comprehend risk assessments, hazards, and safety
- Comprehend laser and light technologies – (radiation and tissue interaction)
You will receive printable workbooks and slide transcripts.
- Units are covered by 3 lessons. It is necessary to move progressively through each module as information in later modules may rely on an understanding of earlier sections.
- Multiple-choice assessments at the end of each section. You must achieve 100% before moving onto the next lesson
Assessment
Learners must complete all assessment requirements
1. Course work
Learners must evidence their knowledge and understanding of the taught content in the form of assignments, work sheets & tests.
2. Case studies
Learners must produce a treatment portfolio of case studies, which will be completed under the supervision of your lecturer who will monitor the quality of the treatments performed to ensure that they meet the given criteria. All case studies must be completed and marked prior to the learner completing the summative practical assessments. Learners must complete case study practice demonstrating 5 treatments (that can be combined) to cover the range.
3. Summative practical assessments
The practical assessments will be conducted by centre assessors through direct observation. The summative assessment takes place under controlled conditions, in a realistic working environment on a real client and in a commercially acceptable timeframe for the practical treatment being assessed.
4. Online theory exam
Core of knowledge is assessed through an online theory exam.
Course Duration
Core of Knowledge must be completed in your own time before attending onsite dates. Please ensure you have booked your place by 31/01/25 to allow sufficient time to complete this unit.
One theory class covering Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation will be carried out remotely via a ‘virtual classroom’ to minimise travel time, whilst the four practical days will take place ay the academy.
- Online Virtual Classroom: Monday 10th February 10am – 3pm
- Onsite: 4 Days Sunday 16th – Tuesday 18th February,
- Summative Assessments Onsite: 2 Days Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd March
