ITEC Level 4 Award in Radio Frequency
October 1 - December 4€395,00
The VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Award in Radio Frequency is an advanced therapy qualification aimed at level 3 qualified practitioners, who wish to add this therapy to their repertoire of treatment offerings. This qualification is informed by employers and national occupational standards for beauty therapy and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a fully commercial radio frequency practitioner.
Throughout this qualification, learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology and health and safety pertaining to level 4 non-medical aesthetic therapies. They will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with and analyse clients whilst providing radio frequency treatments. In parallel, learners will develop their communication and customer service skills and widen their knowledge of the principles and practices of level 4 non- medical aesthetic therapies, all of which are valued highly by employers.
The course consist of a Theory exam and Practical exam. The theoretical aspects will be examined by an ITEC Exam paper and the practical aspects with an exam carried out by an ITEC Examiner.

VTCT & ITEC Level 4 Award in Radio Frequency (Face and Body)
Level 3 qualified practitioners
Radio frequency penetrates the deeper skin layers to where the collagen fibres are embedded. It delivers a high frequency electrical current via poles/electrodes to the body. Body cells are not able to interpret a high frequency electrical current as electricity; rather it is treated as an energy source.
The layers of the skin act like resistors to the high frequency current, heating up to varying degrees. The heating of this area causes an immediate contraction of the collagen fibres (thermal trauma) creating an initial plumping of the skin, whilst simultaneously an increase of fibroblast action causes a stimulation to the production of new collagen fibres (collagen synthesis) also known as heat shock protein, creating a smoother, healthier and younger looking skin.
Thermal trauma occurs to 5-30% of the collagen fibres. This contraction results in the production of new collagen. The diameter of the collagen fibres in the treated area is increased and the spaces between the fibres are visibly reduced. This will plump up the dermal tissue giving a skin-tightening effect and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles
